Sony stops production of PlayStation 2

Sony is ending the production of the popular Playstation 2 in Japan. The device went on sale in March 2000 and ever since it has been sold for over 150 million times. It was so popular that it outsold the Playstation 3 in the first 3 years. However Sony will still continue producing games for the Playstation 2 and at the moment just stops production in Japan. Sony has not yet announced whether it will stop production in other territories as well.
